Mobile phone of Assam's DIG Vivek snatched during morning walk

Guwahati: In an embarrassment for the Assam Police, the mobile phone of Deputy Inspector General (Law and Order) Vivek Raj Singh was snatched away by motorcycle-borne miscreants from an area near the force’s headquarters on Sunday, officials said.

He said that the incident took place on the Mazar Road in Ulubari when Singh was on a morning walk.
Mazar Road is just a stone’s throw away from the police headquarters, where Singh sits with other top officials, including the DGP, in central Guwahati.

The official residences of several senior IPS officers are located along Mazar Road.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Paltan Bazar Police Station. We are looking for him,” Guwahati Assistant Commissioner of Police (Panbazar) Prithibi Rajkhowa told PTI.
However, he refused to give details.

Several other senior officers declined to discuss the incident, while some accepted it was an “embarrassment” for the force.
An officer of Paltan Bazar police station said that they are investigating the matter and conducting raids to nab the mobile snatchers.
