MNF fails to bring development in Mizoram, Rajnath Singh criticizes
Aizawl: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday addressed public gatherings in Mamit and Siaha districts of Mizoram as election campaigning was underway in the state.
Addressing an election rally in Mamit, the Defense Minister assured several guarantees for the people of Mizoram if the BJP comes to power.
He also criticized the Congress and the Mizo National Front (MNF), which is now in power in the state, for failing to develop.
“Has MNF done anything for the development of people in Mizoram? The defense minister said…Congress is synonymous with incompetence and corruption.
Also, BJP is a byword for development and leadership,” he added.
Talking about the promises in BJP’s election manifesto, the Union Minister said, “We are going to launch Operation Drug Free Mizoram to curb drug addiction among the youth in the state.
Brothers and Sisters, we are going to launch the Queen Ropuiliani Women Empowerment Scheme, which will provide a total financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh to each girl child.
A special investigation team will be formed to look into any irregularities or corruption related to the implementation of the SEDP.
We will introduce LOTUS (Economic Opportunity Transformation and Development Scheme) to dispel the myths and corruption surrounding the SEDP scheme and provide LOTUS family identity cards to all eligible households in an effort to improve livelihoods and quality of life.”
Further, Singh also criticized the Congress and said that the Northeast has developed rapidly since the Modi-led NDA government came to power.
He said, “Mizoram and the North-Eastern states were not only geographically distant from us but also emotionally distant under the Congress administration in Delhi.
Ever since the Modi-led NDA government assumed power, the Northeast has experienced remarkable growth.
For the past 20 years, I have been traveling the northeastern states. At this point, there was a serious connection problem.
Reaching the capitals of the northeastern states proved difficult. There was no straight path. Since every state has an airport, today all northeastern states are directly connected to Delhi.
In the Northeast, there were eight airports and one waterway in 2014. Now there are seventeen airports and eighteen waterways.
“Since the Modi-led NDA government assumed power, the Northeast has seen a complete transformation in the last nine years due to increased road and rail connectivity.”
I promise that by 2027 our nation will be among the leading economies of the world, he continued.
