Imphal: For the first time, an 11-year-old boy from Manipur will represent India to fight against a Russian rival at the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Championship in Goa on December 16-17, 2022.
Speaking to reporters in Imphal on Monday, Rosham Meinam, coach of RMX MMA and Fitness Sports and Recreation, Imphal, said the 11-year-old Korouhanba will compete in the 34kg category of the championship organized by the Urungpuren tribal warrior.
Korouhanba is a resident of Sagolband Tera Amudon in Imphal and is the son of RK Napoleon.
Rosham Meinam, a renowned coach of the state and a player who trained Korouhanba, also expressed hope that his student has good strength and will perform well in the championship.
The coach added that his student is also well versed in these arts.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a hybrid combat sport that combines techniques from boxing, wrestling, judo, jujitsu, karate, muay thai (Thai boxing) and other disciplines.
Expressing his confidence, Korouhanba, who was also present at the press meet, said that he will challenge him for the championship win.
