
MLA Atul Bora gets life threat by ULFA-I member; CID starts probe
Guwahati: Assam Director General of Police GP Singh has directed the CID to investigate the threat to life received by Assam Minister Atul Bora through a comment on the Facebook page of Northeast Now (VIDEO).
Bora, the Minister for Agriculture and Implementation of the Assam Pact, is also the head of the Asom Gana Parishad, an ally of the ruling BJP-led coalition government in the state.
The DGP wrote on X, “Threat regarding Hon’ble Minister Sri Atul Bora on Facebook post, Assam CID has been directed to register a criminal case and take legal action.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Assam Police officials reached the office of Northeast Now to get details about the death threat issued to minister Atul Bora.
Commenting on a video package of Assam Minister Atul Bora on the North East Now (Video) Facebook page, a user named Pranash Shandilya said plans were being made to bomb the Assam minister’s official quarters. .
Pranash Shandilya, a Facebook user who claimed to be a member of ULFA-Independent, said the outfit is planning to bomb Minister Atul Bora’s quarters.
“Atul Bora quarter bomb plant r plan kora hoise. Ami ulfa r pora sob kori asu. Besi din jiyai nathake ee (planning to plant bomb in Atalbora quarter.
We in ULFA are doing everything. He won’t live long),” the Facebook user said.
