Aizawl: Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti arrived in Mizoram on Tuesday on a three-day visit to the northeastern state, official sources said.
He was received by the State Rural Development Minister Lalruwatkema at Langpoi airport, the only airport in the state.
Sources said that soon after reaching the airport, the Union Minister had a brief interaction with Chief Minister Zormathanga, who was on his way to Delhi.
Jyoti said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi prioritizes the development of the North-Eastern region and this time he visited Mizoram on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
She assured that if customers contact her, she will try to address and resolve the issues they are facing.
The Union Minister also visited a vegetable market in Vaivakawn area in the western part of the state capital Aizawl, where all the shopkeepers were women.
She said she heard about the Vaivakawn vegetable market and was impressed to see all the vendors being women.
