Aizawl: Three experts from Delhi will come to Aizawl to conduct a polygraph test against a couple, who are prime accused in the suspected rape of their 2-year-old daughter, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

Aizawl Superintendent of Police (SP) C Lalruaia told reporters that a polygraph test would be conducted against the couple in connection with the death of their 2-year-old daughter in early December, who were suspected to have been sexually assaulted during her lifetime. was abused. .
He said that three experts from a forensic laboratory in Delhi will come to Aizawl to conduct the tests.

According to the police, this is the first polygraph test to be conducted in the state.

Lalruaia said the state police had already made travel arrangements for the experts.

He said that the request for a lie detector test, which was sought after the consent of the couple, had also been granted by the Aizawl district court.

The couple was arrested in early October and booked under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and 376AB of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

He was released on bail recently, the SP said.

The girl died on September 16 at a private hospital in Aizawl due to acute Loryngotracheobrontis (ALTB).

However, while her body was being prepared to be handed over to her family, some unnatural marks were noticed in her private parts, police said in an earlier statement.

A post-mortem examination of her body also revealed some infected wounds on her privates, indicating she may have been sexually assaulted, the statement said.

The Aizawl police then registered a suo-moto case under the POCSO Act on September 20 and launched a rigorous investigation, during which many people, including the girl’s grandparents, other relatives and local leaders, were questioned.
