Mizoram cop on poll duty killed

Imphal: In an incident, a vehicle carrying security officials for the Manipur elections met with an accident in Tamanglong district, killing one official and injuring 10 others on Wednesday morning.

According to the police report, the incident took place at around 1:30 am due to a mechanical malfunction near Timinglong College.

The deceased has been identified as Lalaompoya of Zion Wang, Champaign, Mizoram. The condition of at least eight Mizoram police personnel is critical.

In a very tragic incident on 2.3.2022 at 1:30 AM, a medium-sized truck carrying Mizoram SAPF personnel’s deployed for election duty in Manipur are crashed into the Taminglong College campus in Taminglong district of Manipur.

According to the government’s instructions, all the injured personnel along with the deceased personnel were airlifted to Imphal.
