Mizoram CM meet his Assam counterpart; key issues discussed

GUWAHATI: Mizoram CM Lalduhoma, on Friday (February 09), met his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Lalduhoma met over breakfast in Guwahati.

Several key issues were discussed by the two chief minister.

“A wide range of developmental issues were discussed during the meeting,” the Assam chief minister’s office (CMO) informed.

Notably, this was for the first time after being sworn-in as chief minister of Mizoram that Lalduhoma, met Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma termed his meeting with his Mizoram counterpart Lalduhoma as a “bonding over breakfast”.

In the meeting, Mr Lalduhoma and Mr Sarma agreed to make collective efforts to resolve the border dispute between the two states. Both leaders also agreed to maintain peace along the borders as long as the two neighbouring states hold border talks, security sources said.
Mr Sarma also assured Mr Lalduhoma that he will send the minister in charge of border to Mizoram after the ongoing budget session of the Assam assembly.

“We engaged in various discussions to ensure continued peace and progress between our two states,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said after the meeting.
