Mizoram: A citizen of Myanmar arrested for possession of heroin

Aizawl: A 27-year-old Myanmar man was arrested in Aizawl on Sunday for possession of 10 grams of heroin worth Rs 5 lakh, police said in a statement.

Citizen of Myanmar arrested and Mizoram police statement said the contraband was hidden in a soap case.
The accused has been identified as Thalianchi, a resident of Tahan, Myanmar.

A case has been registered against the arrested person under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act 1985) and related provisions of the Aliens Act.
About 40 Myanmar nationals have been arrested in drug-related cases between January and September this year, Mizoram police sources said.
