Mizoram: 60,000 beneficiaries identified under SEDP program.

Aizawl: At least 60,000 beneficiaries have been selected for the first phase of assistance under the state’s flagship program – Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP), Mizoram Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia said on Monday.
“We have selected the beneficiaries and we are planning to provide Rs 50,000 assistance to 60,000 families under SEDP for their economic start-up,” Tawnluia told a political meeting at the party office here.
He said that 1500 families have been selected from each assembly constituency to get assistance. Mizoram has 40 assembly constituencies.
The Minister said that the SEDP has been formulated for the upbringing of the people and for the economic development of the state.
He claimed that the SEDP program has been implemented in part in the form of road construction and hiring of teachers, since the Mizo National Front (MNF) came to power in the state in 2018. The public and the program will be implemented on a family basis.
The SEDP is the flagship program of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), which aims to accelerate progress in key areas through resource exploration and equitable use, and to promote sustainable development and equality among citizens.
Under this policy, the government is planning to provide financial assistance of at least Rs. 3 lakhs for beneficiaries to start projects of their choice (business) for sustainable development and economic development of households.
