Imphal: A sensational case of kidnapping has emerged from the disputed northeastern state of Manipur on Monday (August 28).
As many as 17 school students, all girls, were ‘abducted’ by unknown miscreants in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
The girls were allegedly ‘abducted’ from the school gate by miscreants in Kamong in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
According to preliminary information, the kidnapped schoolgirls were between 12 and 14 years old.
Fortunately, three other girls managed to escape the clutches of the ‘kidnappers’ as they jumped from the car used by the miscreants and escaped.
The kidnappers used two eco-vans to ‘abduct’ the schoolgirls.
According to the Manipur Police, ransom demand is likely to be the real motive behind the ‘kidnapping’ of the girls.
The incident took place at Haokhamban High School in Kamong, about 15 km from Manipur’s capital Imphal.
Meanwhile, police and joint security forces in Manipur have launched efforts to recover the ‘abducted’ girls.
This is a developing story.
