Minor girls gang rape row, BJP women body seek suo moto action

Shillong: The Meghalaya BJP Mahila Morcha has expressed deep concern over the recent incident of gang rape of two tribal minor girls on 17 April 2024 in South West Garo Hills.
In a proactive stance, the organization is demanding the Meghalaya High Court to initiate action against the culprits on its own.
The petition is accompanied by a request to the court to seek a comprehensive report from the local police department regarding the incident.
In a letter to the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, the state unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha said, “On April 17, 2024, two tribal, minor girls were gang-raped in the southwest Garo Hills.
We humbly request your honor to take suo moto action against the culprits and seek a report from our police department.
Your Honour, we have full faith in you and the Judiciary and we are sure that with your intervention this case will be solved at the earliest.
In the appeal before the Hon’ble Court, Mahila Morcha asserts her unwavering faith in the Judiciary and the Hon’ble Judge presiding over the matter.
