Minor girl in Assam sexually assaulted by senior police officer

Guwahati: A senior officer of Assam police has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor domestic help at Dergaon in Golaghat district.

Police sources said police officer Kiran Nath, who is posted as DSP at the Police Training College in Dergaon, allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help in his residence.

The family members of the minor girl alleged the DSP has been inflicting physical assault and has also been sexually abusing the girl for a long time.

The incident came to light after the minor girl fled the police officer’s residence and returned home. She then narrated her ordeal to her parents.

On Saturday, the girl’s family sought to file a case against DSP Nath at the Dergaon Police Station. Reports indicate Nath’s wife attempted to impede the filing of the complaint, resulting in a temporary disruption at the police station. Police intervened swiftly and restored order.

An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered at Dergan police station. The family has demanded justice and a strong action against the accused.
