Agartala: Meteorological department in Agartala, Tripura has issued yellow and orange alert for Tripura from October 23 to 26.
The Meteorological Department said that from October 23 to 26, Tripura will experience gusty winds of 40-50 kmph with gustiness of 60 kmph.
“A deep depression over west-central Bay of Bengal moved northeastward at 13 kmph during last 6 hours and centered over the same region at 0830 hours IST today on 23 October.
Near latitude 17.0°N and longitude 86.8°E, about 360 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 510 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 660 km south-west of Khepupara (Bangladesh). It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 6 hours,” a statement issued by the Meteorological Department said.
It added that the depression is very likely to move north-northeast and cross the Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong as a depression around October 25 evening.
“Under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Tripura from October 23 to 26.
Gusts of 40-50 kmph to 60 kmph are expected in Tripura on October 25. The department has also issued yellow and orange alert for the state,” it reads.
