Meiteis to leave state warning by former militant group PAMRA

Aizawl: An ex-militant group in Mizoram, the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA) has urged Meiteis camped in Mizoram state to leave the state for their own safety.
In a press release on July 21, Mizoram’s ex-militant group, PAMRA, requested that Meiteis in the state leave for their own safety.
“In light of their safety, they will be responsible if something untoward happens to them.” The release said.

PAMRA has also said that the world is aware of the cruel treatment meted out to the Zoro community in Manipur.”In light of their safety, they will be responsible if something untoward happens to them.” The release said.
The treatment of the Meiteis towards the Zo ethnic group in Manipur has caused severe pain in the Mizo community.
Ex-militants who fought for freedom during the Mizo National Front’s freedom struggle and laid down their arms after the signing of the peace accord in 1986, formed the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA) for the benefit of its members.
The statement came after a video of two women being paraded naked and molested on July 19 surfaced.

According to a complaint related to the incident, the alleged incident took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district.
The picture shows two women being stripped naked and dragged into a paddy field by a mob. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, which condemned the incident, claims that the women belonged to the Kuki-Zo tribe while the mob that molested them was Meiteis.
