Tura: The BSF (Border Security Force), in a joint operation with the police in South Garo Hills, seized more than 11,000 kg of dried betel nuts being smuggled into India from Bangladesh.
A joint operation between police and 43 Bn BSF took place on Saturday in Dambuk Up area under Rongara PS. During the operation, dried betel nut worth Rs 24 lakh was seized from three trucks.
According to a statement issued by the BSF, the three vehicle drivers, however, managed to escape.
Meanwhile, PRO BSF Meghalaya has praised the Meghalaya Police for their active participation and said that such operations will continue in future.
