The Vice People’s Party VPP demands resignation of Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.

The VPP demanded the resignation of Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui over the firing of tear gas by the police on protesting teachers in Shillong.

Notably, Lakhman Ramboi is also the Education Minister of Meghalaya.

“The Minister in charge of Home Affairs and Education (Lahkmen Rymbui) must take moral responsibility for the incident and resign immediately,” said VPP Secretary General Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon.

He added: “Policemen involved in this inhumane treatment of teachers and their families should also be booked.”
Police fired teargas shells in Meghalaya’s capital Shillong on Thursday as angry contract teachers began marching towards the state secretariat.

The teachers decided to march to the Meghalaya Secretariat after the state government did not call them for talks when they staged a protest sit-in for the past one month.
These contract teachers are protesting against the Meghalaya government and demanding the state government to restore their services.
