Shillong: The Meghalaya government has reviewed the COVID situation in the state following the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in several countries including China.
The Meghalaya government has appealed to the citizens of the state to resume wearing masks as a precautionary measure to prevent further spread of the COVID pandemic in the state.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said that the state government is continuously monitoring the situation of COVID in the state.
“During this festive season, the only advice is that wherever possible, people should wear masks,” Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
“There is nothing alarming yet but obviously it is our duty as a government not to take things for granted,” said Conrad Sangma.
The Meghalaya chief minister added: “So, as a society and government and as individuals we have to be careful.”
“The Prime Minister himself is having a meeting as we speak and it’s just a precautionary meeting as we all leave for the Christmas break and so I thought it was appropriate given the current situation that’s happening in the rest of the world. “. he added.
