Shillong: The three-day Shad Sik Mynsiem Festival (Dance of Peace of Hearts) ended here on Monday, with many prominent tribal men and women participating in the Thanksgiving Dance.\

Ka Shad Suk Mynsiem has been organized by Seng Khasi Kami and it started with a dance on Saturday 9th April at Viking Ground.

Dressed in traditional attire, the center of the ground was bright yellow as women dressed in Dhara (traditional dress) danced to the beat of kissing (drums) while prominent men surrounded the women dressed in beautiful turbans with chicken wings. And moved along with the traditional music.
Speaking to East Mojo, Seng Khasi Kami’s Assistant General Secretary, PB Synrem , said that the Thanksgiving Dance Festival is a time to thank God Almighty for His blessings and receive His blessings for the days to come. There is a way.

Explaining the dance, Synrem said that the dance reflects a special society. This is how the government is being governed. “Male dancers dancing around women show that men are the protectors of the family. Women at the center show the dignity they maintain in society,” Synrem added.

He added that he is thankful to Allah for giving him good health, harvest and prosperity.

Valerie Ning Nang, who came to see the dance, said she was glad things were back to normal. That they can all come together to see the annual festival in Viking.

It should be noted that for the first time in the history of Seng Khasi, Shad Suk Mynsiem could not be held in 2020 when an epidemic was spreading in the world. In 2021, the festival was held but with many restrictions.

This year, without any restrictions, the Viking Ground was filled with many special men and women waiting to take part in the traditional dance.
