Shillong: The Meghalaya Police on Tuesday issued an alert on “extortion scams and crimes”.
Meghalaya Police has warned the people of extortion scams not to share personal and intimate photos with anyone.
Meghalaya Police said, “Sharing any personal and intimate photos with anyone can be dangerous.
The alert issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Meghalaya Police said that “this advisory is to create awareness about sexual exploitation”.
“The victim is lured to share intimate photos or perform sexual acts in front of the camera,” Meghalaya CID said.
He added: “The victim is (then) blackmailed and threatened to collect money or her videos or photos will go viral.”
