TURA: Continuing his unrelenting criticism of the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma-led MDA government, BJP spokesperson and Tura MDC Bernard N. Marak on Monday accused the NPP of trying to defeat the BJP. Treating BJP as an opposition and taking credit for all the development funds provided by the Centre.
The Narendra Modi-led BJP government released an amount of Rs 151.9 crore for the Hunar Skill Development Centre, which has a 300-bed nursing college, pharmaceutical college, paramedical college, skill development center and hostels for boys and girls. Which have a capacity of about 1000. and a working women’s hostel. Modi government has not been given credit for any project in the state. Even flagship programs like FOCUS, FOCUS+, NLM, YESS etc. have become NPP schemes,” Tura MDC said.
Accusing the state government of hijacking skill development projects from Tura to Dalmagre and then to a remote village near Chidekgre, Bernard claimed that an attempt was made to rename it PA Sangma Skill Development Centre. .
Bernard further alleged that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is using the YESS fund to strengthen the party’s youth wing. In Garo Hills, disenfranchisement of genuine youth and under YESS an amount of Rs.1,00,000/- which was to be given to youth clubs by empowered youth organizations for youth involvement. “The NPP youths have been asked to form clubs which the administration helped to register last Saturday. They are asked to open an account specifically in a rural bank where 1 before the code of conduct comes into effect. ,00,000/- will be given an amount of Rs.This amount will be used politically to lure votes during the election.
