Meghalaya: Over 1,500 obsolete, antiquated practices to be scrapped, says Rijiju

Shillong: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Center will repeal more than 1,500 obsolete and antiquated laws during the winter session of Parliament.

Rijiju told reporters here on Saturday that the outdated laws are a hindrance in the normal life of the common people and are of no importance at present and do not deserve to remain in the law books.
“It is the prime minister’s desire to ease the compliance burden on people, ensuring that they can live as peacefully as possible.

We (NDA government at the Centre) have decided to remove all outdated, archaic laws from the constitution, as unnecessary laws are a burden on the common man. We have decided to repeal more than 1500 laws in the winter session of Parliament. I am ready to introduce several more repeal acts,” the minister said.
Rijiju also said that the Center pays special attention to the Northeast, and there is no reason why the region should lag behind in any sector.

He added, “It is BJP’s desire to make the North East prosperous and India a powerful country.”
