Shillong: The Meghalaya government has decided to scrap the ‘controversial’ Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act (MRGA) 2021.
This was announced by Meghalaya’s Taxation Minister James Sangma.

The development comes after various organizations in Meghalaya strongly opposed the move to set up casinos in the state.

“During the past months, there have been concerns from some sections of the society about the scope and impact of the Act. I have tried to understand the concerns of the public and understand the further implications of the Act,” he added. said
The Meghalaya minister said the Gaming Act was introduced last year as a measure to promote tourism, income generation and employment in the state.
