Meghalaya: BJP dares CM Conrad Sangma for debate on corruption

Shillong: The BJP’s Meghalaya unit has challenged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to discuss corruption.
The Meghalaya BJP has also encouraged Chief Minister Konrad Sangma to launch a CBI probe into alleged financial scams in the state.
Notably, the BJP is part of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government led by the NPP.
Meghalaya BJP leader Bernard Marak said, “Let’s discuss the need for a CBI inquiry into corruption and various scams.”
Meghalaya BJP leader said, “BJP is not in MDA to take advantage of various scams but to raise voice against it.”
“Accept the challenge and prove your (Meghalaya’s CM Konrad Sangma’s) position. The BJP will not shy away from speaking out against corruption.”
Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak said, “They (Conrad Sangma) should explain why they are against the CBI inquiry.”
Mark further accused the coalition partners in the MDA government of “robbing the poor of their lies”.
Contrary to Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad Sangma’s remark that “the BJP is free to withdraw from the MDA”, Marak termed it “cheap politics”.
The Meghalaya BJP vice-president added, “Money and power are not everything in politics, there is good leadership.
He urged all like-minded parties with progressive ideologies to come together to work out a new roadmap for Meghalaya.
“There are many capable leaders in the state who can lead without being greedy,” said Bernard Marrak.
