Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that there is a plan to establish a medical college in Darrang district of the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on Sunday while participating in a ceremonial Bhumi Pujan for Assam Skill University at Mangaldai in Darrang district.

The Rs 1,000-crore project, the upcoming state-of-the-art university, aimed at imparting multi-disciplinary skills training, and being launched with financial support from the Manila-headquartered Asian Development Bank, will be the first of its kind. Not only in Assam but in the entire eastern part of the country.

 

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of Bhumi Pujan, the Assam Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Assam Skill University, when operational, would transform Assam into one of the most developed states. It will act as a catalyst in existing system efforts. On all fronts of the country.

Describing human resources as one of the most valuable assets of a nation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the upcoming center for imparting skill training would benefit the nation by creating skilled job creators and employment opportunities. will greatly contribute to the construction process.

CM Sarma said that the Assam Skill University will usher in a new chapter in the state’s initiatives to prepare its youth to make the most of the opportunities offered by a new and reborn India.
The Chief Minister of Assam also made several announcements aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the residents of the historic northern fringe district.

He said that the construction of the proposed bypass road as an alternative to the national highway passing through Mangaldai city will be started on a priority basis.
The Assam Chief Minister also promised that the demand for connecting Mangaldai Darrang district to the railway network would be taken up with the central government.
