Massive fire at Teliamura market as several shops burnt
Khowai: On September 24, a devastating fire engulfed several shops in Teliamura market in Khowai district.
As soon as the information was received, fire tenders reached the spot and immediately started extinguishing the fire. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, additional firefighting squads were called in from Ompi, Ambassa and Jirania to bolster efforts to control the fire, reports local MLA Kalyani Roy.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, initial suspicions lean toward an electrical short circuit.
This insight was provided by one of the firefighters involved in the rescue mission.
Tragically, most of the establishments destroyed by fire were grocery stores, which were exacerbated by the presence of highly flammable commodities, including oil.
After hours of tireless work, around 7 p.m., firefighters successfully brought the fire under control. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by this catastrophic incident.”
