Manipuri tribals in London protest against ongoing ethnic violence

Manipur: A group of protesters from Manipur’s tribal community living in Westminster, London staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the statue of Field Marshal William Slim on June 17 against the ethnic violence against the local tribal community of Manipur.
A group of protesters carrying placards and banners with pictures of people killed during communal violence in Manipur demanded President’s rule in the state as the state continues to be mired in internal strife.
The group termed the ethnic violence in Manipur as a state-sponsored massacre to cleanse the state of tribals. A candlelight vigil was also held for the victims killed during the violence in Manipur.
