Manipur: Rock Carnival ShiRock 2022 draws huge crowds in Akhrol .The ‘end’ of the epidemic has given a new lease of life to public celebrations across India and Manipur is no different. ShiRock 2022, one of the state’s most popular annual rock musical carnivals, has attracted a huge crowd from across the state, especially music fans, at the Bakshi Ground in Ukhrul District, as the carnival causes epidemics. It is being held after a gap of two years.

This year, the annual Rock Musical Carnival, part of the fourth edition of the state-level Sherwin Lily Festival, featured 16 of the best rock bands in the Northeast for rock competition.
There are six individual prizes of Rs 10 lakh for the winner, Rs 5 lakh for the second prize and Rs 2.5 lakh for the third prize of Rs 25,000 each.

The purpose of the musical carnival is to promote the potential of the region’s youth as well as to raise awareness and respect for the endangered state flower ‘Shirui Lily’.

On Thursday, out of the 16 rock band finalists, eight bands namely Variation, N2BM, Symphonic Illusion, Pantocrator, GMP The Band, Not Funny, Chasing Proxima and The Prophets entertained the audience with their brilliant performances.
The competition will also feature performances by Echoes of Mercy, 1BHK, Stan Maggot, Terra Progeny, Rongbin-The Secret Realm, Manga, Oblivious and The Paradigm Shift on Friday evening.

Despite difficult conditions due to rain, large numbers of people turned out on Thursday to watch the performance.
