Manipur Police defuses an IED in Telipati area of ​​Imphal East.

Imphal: Manipur Police averted a major tragedy by recovering and deactivating an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Talipati area under Porompat Police Station of Imphal East on Tuesday morning.

According to sources, the suspected bomb wrapped in a black package was recovered around 6 am on Tuesday from near the entrance of a grocery warehouse owned by businessman Ramnath Sahu.

An anti-bomb squad was called in to defuse the IED and the road from Minuthong to Hapta in Telipati was closed for traffic from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

Later, the remote-controlled bomb weighing around 5 kg was successfully defused by the police bomb squad.
