
Manipur police arrested three KCP freedom fighter in extortion case
Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested three persons associated with the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) for their involvement in extortion activities targeting businesses and individuals in Imphal.
Acting on a tip-off, the Manipur police arrested two members of the KCP (Taibanganba) faction, identified as Yumnam Arvind alias Mangangcha Singh (21) and Oinam Rakesh Meitei alias Chingshangamba (20).
The two men, hailing from Manipur’s Bishnupur district, are accused of extorting money from private schools, hospitals and brick kilns in and around Imphal.
The arrests were made during raids conducted in Imphal West district within the last 24 hours.
During the operation, the police recovered two mobile phones, two Aadhaar cards, Rs. Rs 3370 in cash and a four-wheeler were recovered from the possession of the accused.
These arrests have been made following the apprehension of Thokchom Iboyaima Singh alias Boyai (42).
Singh, an active member of the KCP (Lamiyanba Khaman) faction, was also involved in extorting money from businesses and individuals in the Imphal area.
Police have registered cases against the three persons, further investigation is on.
