Imphal: The Manipur People’s Party (MPP) on Tuesday criticized the BJP-led governments at the Center and the state, saying they have failed to take any steps to tackle the ongoing communal violence. The MPP termed the BJP as the “real common enemy” of the people of Manipur.
The Manipur People’s Party(MPP) said in a statement that the BJP-led governments at the Center and the state have not yet taken any action against the seven BJP MLAs demanding a separate administration in the state.
The MPP accused the BJP of being anti-national and deliberately trying to eliminate the local Meitei community by conspiring with Chin-Zo-Kuki militants and those under the SoO.
He alleged that whenever the government is formed in the state, the BJP has always tried to disperse the socio-political population of Manipur.
The MPP said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement of taking action against militants who violated SoO norms was contradictory.
It pointed out that Kuki militants are killing innocent civilians in plain sight with modern weapons, while the Union Home Minister is reneging on his promises. The MPP questioned whether the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister would remain ignorant if the same situation happened in Arunachal Pradesh.
The party further condemned the central forces, especially the Assam Rifles, for allegedly aiding militants in carrying out attacks on innocent Meitei civilians and accused the central and state governments of being silent spectators to the situation.
The MPP said it is clear that militants based in illegal Myanmar are leading the ongoing violence.
The MPP demanded immediate action from the state government to identify the illegal migrants and send them back to their respective lands. It also appealed to the people to fight unitedly against the atrocities committed by the Kuki militants and their supporters.
