'Manipur is burning' says Bollywood actoress Richa Chadha

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has expressed concern over the incidents of violence in Manipur.

Taking to Twitter, Richa Chadha said “Manipur is on fire”.
Notably, this is the first time a Bollywood actor has expressed concern over the violence in Manipur, since the May 3 riots in the state.
Earlier, Manipur-based well-known filmmaker and actor Priyakanta Laishram had expressed concern over the alleged inaction and negligence of the state and central governments over the dire situation in the northeastern state.
“We have been let down by both the state and central governments. How long will our leaders continue to make such newsworthy announcements that do nothing to resolve the dire situation. For over a month now, non-stop killings, shootings, Internet censorship and destruction of property is taking place, which has displaced countless people and many have become homeless. Do the people sitting in their comfortable chairs even understand what it means to be homeless? ?How much more bloodshed is necessary to bring things back to normal?Priyakanta had said.
Manipur-born Priyakanta Laishram is a multi-award-winning director, actor, writer, producer, editor, and TV host known for socially conscious films.

It may be noted that the state of Manipur has been on the boil since May 3 following clashes between two communities and subsequent large-scale violence.
Around 100 people have lost their lives and thousands have been displaced in the state following the clashes and subsequent violence.
