Manipur: In Imphal three-century old idol despoiled

Manipur(Imphal): A three-century old idol was despoiled at a sanctum in Imphal’s Brahmapur region, police said on Friday.

The hallowed place is safeguarded under the Manipur Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1976.
“The locks on the two iron entryways of the sanctuary were broken and the idol was despoiled on Thursday night,” said a cop.

Manipur Assembly Speaker and neighborhood MLA Th Satyabrata visited the mishap site and guaranteed all conceivable assistance. Scientific groups likewise visited the premises.
