Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency MLA S Kebi Devi, through her lawyer, served the legal notice to two editors on Saturday for publishing a false news” allegedly with the aim to defame and tarnish her image.

Advocate Leishangthem Chanu Ayangleima, on behalf of the MLA, served the legal notice to two editors, one of an evening newspaper published in Manipuri language and another of a news channel circulated through YouTube and other social media platforms.

The notice demanded an unconditional apology from the editors to be published on the newspaper and news channel within 48 hours, failing which a civil/ criminal complaint would be filed against them.

It stated that the information published in the evening newspaper and a social media channel is extremely contrary to the Manipur High Court direction passed on October 16 in connection with an election petition.

The news published on the newspaper and social media channel misled the readers into wrongly believing that Kebi is avoiding the court proceeding and a warrant is being issued, it stated.
