Manipur has made biometric attendance mandatory in government offices from June 1.
Imphal: The Manipur government has decided to implement the use of Biometric Attendance System (BIS) in all government offices and make it mandatory from June 1. This is to ensure punctuality, accountability and transparency in the performance of their duties.
The announcement comes after the state government conducted a five-day working week (Monday to Friday) for all government offices, agencies, bodies, public sector undertakings under the state government from April 1, 2022.
Deputy Secretary (AR) Roji Rajkumari said in a statement that appropriate adjustments would be made in the system for officers, staff working on roster system, special duty and other such duties.
The decision to continue the BIS exercise in all government offices was taken during a cabinet meeting on April 21, he said.
It should be noted that the use of biometric attendance system was stopped in 2020 as a precautionary measure after the outbreak of epidemic diseases.
