Manipur: Government vehicle accident with car, 2 killed

Senapati: Two persons died on the spot when a Dimapur-bound passenger vehicle in which they were traveling met with an accident at Karong bridge in Senapati district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the incident took place around 8 am when the Dimapur-bound passenger plane collided with an Alto car coming from Maram side between Winger Mount Zion Higher Secondary School and Karong Bridge.
The winger skidded off the road and fell into the river, killing two passengers on the spot.

Other passengers were saved from drowning by the timely intervention of locals from Kathikho Karong, Khabung Karong and Poumai Naga Students Union who helped pull the passengers from the river.

At the time of the accident, there were 14 people in the passenger car including the driver.
Other injured have been admitted to Senapati District Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Senapati police will take the bodies of both the deceased to the mortuary in Imphal.
