Imphal: Manipur Governor L Ganesan on Tuesday took a helicopter ride and visited Bihang, a sub-divisional town in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, bordering Myanmar.
Manipur Governor L Ganesan appealed to the people of the state and the security personnel to be vigilant against illegal migration from Myanmar.
On his arrival in the border town, the Manipur Governor interacted with the district administration, village officials and discussed the impact of illegal migration of foreigners.
The Governor of Manipur also appealed to the people of the state to be vigilant with patriotic spirit to protect the country.
The Governor of Manipur also visited the Assam Rifles Company operating base on the Indo-Myanmar border at Behang village in Churachandpur district.
A defense statement said that during his visit, Manipur Governor La Ganesan was briefed by Assam Rifles Khuga Battalion Commandant Colonel Rajneesh Girola about the current security situation and operational dynamics in the border areas.
He was apprised of the social welfare oriented activities and steps taken by Assam Rifles to ensure progressive development of the border areas of Manipur and assured of continuity in the efforts of Assam Rifles.
The Governor of Manipur interacted with the troops of Assam Rifles and appreciated their efforts in keeping the area safe and secure.
