Imphal: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice-president Harishwar Goswami on Thursday said that confining all freedom fighters of militant groups working under the SoO agreement to their designated camps would help the violence-hit Manipur. About 90% of normal function can be restored in Manipur.
Speaking to the media at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal on Thursday, Goswami suggested five points to the government to normalize the situation in Manipur.
MPCC Five Tips for Normal Peace Recovery
According to Goswami, the five propositions are:
1. Imprisonment of SoO groups in their designated camps
2. To ensure the preservation of territorial, administrative, and socio-economic integrity of Manipur
3. Taking immediate action against poppy growers, financiers and drug dealers
4. Immediate implementation of relief measures
5. To initiate the identification and deportation of illegal immigrants within a specified period.
According to MPCC, the root cause of Manipur crisis
The MPCC vice president highlighted that drug terrorism and the presence of Myanmar-based People’s Defense Force (PDF) militants are immediate contributing factors to the ongoing conflict.
He also traced the root cause of the conflict to the establishment of the Kuki National Assembly in 1960.
He accused Chief Minister Anne Brien of negligence after she set ablaze an open gym in Chorachandpur on April 27.
He said that the Chief Minister and his government should be held accountable for the loss of countless lives, the displacement of more than 40,000 people and the destruction of property.
Deployment of central forces
Addressing the lack of trust in central forces by the people of the Valley, Goswami questioned what was the purpose of deploying large numbers of central forces if civilians were left to fend for themselves against Kuki militants.
He further alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is making hollow comments and allowing the people of Manipur to remain insecure, despite the SO’s assurance of incarcerating militants in designated camps. Despite the assurance.
Goswami also asserted that the ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ slogan of the ruling twin-engine government has turned into ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Sarvansh’ (a collective destruction).
