Imphal: The central government has summoned Manipur CM N Biren Singh following the widespread clashes in the state.
Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh arrived in New Delhi on Sunday along with a few of his cabinet colleagues.
The Manipur Chief Minister is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to New Delhi.
CM Biren Singh will brief the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister about the current security situation in the state.
The state ministers, who accompanied Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh to New Delhi, are: Th Biswajit, Th Basanta Kumar, Y Khemchand and Govindas Konthoujam.
According to reports, Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi has also reached New Delhi for meetings.
Notably, the north-eastern state of Manipur is returning to normalcy after the havoc wreaked havoc in the state since May 3.
It may be mentioned here that the Congress party said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should focus on Manipur, at least now, that the BJP has lost the elections in Karnataka.
The North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) said PM Modi and Amit Shah should follow “Raj Dharma” and focus on restoring peace in violence-hit Manipur.
Earlier, the Congress party had questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the violence in Manipur.
“Prime Minister has not even tweeted about Manipur. Does the Government of India even exist? Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das had asked the question on May 11.
