Manipur Chief Minister launched 12 more GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday flagged off 12 more GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles from the west gate of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal.

The patrol vehicles flagged off under Phase III include three vehicles each for Tamenglong and Noni and two vehicles each for Kangpokpi, Senapati and Tengnoupal districts.
Earlier, five such vehicles for Sinapati district and three vehicles for Kangpokpi district were flagged off on May 13, 2022 in the first phase. Five more vehicles for Tangnopal district and two vehicles for Taminglung district were also flagged off in Phase II on June 8 and June 19, 2022 respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Baran Singh said that GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles have been launched so that police can respond quickly to any incident on national highways in the state. The location of the patrol vehicles can be traced from the police headquarters.
Stating that at least 10 policemen could be in a flagged vehicle today, the Chief Minister said that the patrolling teams are on the highways to prevent incidents of threats and extortion of truck and bus drivers by unknown miscreants.
The Chief Minister further said that there has been significant improvement in law and order in the state. “Thus, now there is no need for security convoys to transport oil tankers in the state,” he said.
Continuing that the aim of the government is to ensure the welfare and safety of the public, he said that the government has embarked on the task of modernizing the police to make police officers people-friendly. “Necessary equipment was provided for modernization. Meyam Gi Numit is also organized in every district including district police to bring better relations between police and public.
