Manipur: BJP MLA Depo Gangami elected new HAC chairman.

Imphal: Dinganglung Gangmei (Dipu) of Nungba constituency in Tamenglong district of Manipur was on Monday elected new chairman of Hill Areas Committee (HAC) in Manipur.

Although the election of HAC chairman is scheduled for Tuesday, the news was broken by Henglep ACK MLA Letzamang Haokip on microblogging site Twitter.

“Congratulations @d_gangmei (retd. IAS) Honorable MLA Nungba (ST) AC has been elected as the new Chairman of the Hill Area Committee (HAC),” MLA Haokip wrote on his Twitter handle.

Naga People’s Front (NPF) MLA Lashio Cashing was the former chairman of HAC.

It is to be noted that Governor La Gunnison has fixed the time and date for holding the election for the office of HAC Chairman of Manipur Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (April 12).

In the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (5) of Rule 219 of the Rules and Regulations of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, HAC member Letpao Haokip has been appointed to preside over the election meeting.
