Manipur: At least 7 dead in massive Noney landslide. In a shocking incident, seven people, believed to be all India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel.  Locals and North East Frontier Railway (NFR) personnel, were killed. They are missing after the landslide. Railway construction site in Noni district of Manipur late Wednesday night.
So far, seven bodies of IRB personnel have been recovered, while 13 others have been safely evacuated, according to the latest figures shared by authorities. Five of the 18 workers at the NFR railway construction site have been rescued and 13 are still missing. Four NFR engineers, three BIPL Road Construction Company officials and a cook are still missing.
The incident took place in Makhuam village near Tupul when a river flowing from Tamenglong and Noni districts was completely closed due to a massive landslide.
According to sources, at least 13 people have been rescued so far but more are feared to be buried under the rubble. The injured are being treated at the Noni Army Medical Unit.

The incident took place near Tupul, where railway lines and a station are under construction.

According to reports, fresh landslides and bad weather also hampered the rescue operations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles. Army helicopters are said to be waiting for the weather to clear.
According to locals, large-scale landslides have closed the Ijei River in Noney District, leading to fears of flooding as the water level in the river rises. They fear that the river bank will break and a heavy flow of water will destroy the paddy fields downstream.
