Kohima: Around 12 shops were gutted in a fire today at Kitsubozou near Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kohima. Sources told that 12 shops, housed in two buildings, were gutted in the fire around 12 noon.
Other buildings in the adjacent area were also partially damaged by the fire. Six vehicles and two bikes were also burnt in the fire.
At the time of filing this report, the damage caused by the fire and its assessment is yet to be ascertained. No human casualties were reported.
Fire tenders from North and South Fire Station Kohima reached the spot.
After receiving the information, the Assam Rifles under IGAR(N) also immediately dispatched water tankers and fire fighting parties to the spot. MLA Kevipodi Sophie, former MLA Medo Yhokha visited the accident site.
Meanwhile, Kohima Chairman Kitsubozou Panchayat Dzieseneilie Sachü, thanked Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services, Nagaland Police, Assam Rifles, Kohima Village Youth Organization, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Red Cross Society, neighboring colonies, various organizations and churches. Sachü said that social work will be done on March 20 from 7 am.
