Former Assam student leader Sanjib Talukdar topped the post-graduation examination, which he took from jail.
Talukdar was arrested by the Assam Police for his involvement in the 2019 Guwahati bomb blast that injured at least 12 people.
Sanjib Talukdar topped his class in Sociology in which he enrolled and completed Master of Arts from Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) in Assam.
Speaking to PTI, Sanjib Talukdar’s sister Dolly said, “It’s a mixed feeling for us. While we are happy that he has won the gold medal, we are also sad that he is still on the bars. behind. We know he is innocent and he believes that justice will be done.
โHe had completed the theory part of the course but could not complete the MPhil due to lack of laboratory facilities from the jail. We hope he gets time to complete it after he is out,โ he added.
“Sanjib always excelled in whatever he did. The news of his suspected association with ULFA came as a shock to us. We hope justice will prevail and the truth will come out,” his friend said. added.
