Guwahati: The Indian Army is firmly in control of the situation along the China border.
This was said by Lt. Gen. RP Kalita, Chief of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army.
Lt. Gen. Kalita made the comment while commenting on the recent Indian Army clash with Chinese PLA troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector on December 9.
Kalita said clashes between India Army troops with the Chinese PLA occur on occasions due to the two sides’ differing perceptions of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
“Such differences are resolved by engaging in negotiations as per agreed protocol,” Lt Gen RP Kalita said.
On December 9, India and Chinese troops clashed near the Yangtse in the Tawang sector, resulting in injuries to soldiers from both sides.
According to sources, the Chinese troops crossed the LAC, which was countered by the Indian troops in a “strong and determined manner”.
“A few personnel from both sides suffered minor injuries” and both sides “immediately disengaged from the area,” the source said.
