Loss of TMNL leaders in fatal road accident NSF, DNSU condoles

Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) have expressed shock and sadness over the untimely demise of Themmaso Tallanao, President of the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL – Tangkhul Youth Council), and Masothing, Assistant General Secretary of TMNL.

The duo died in a fatal accident near the Indo-Myanmar border, at Kamjong, Ukhrul District, on October 24.

According to the NSF, the accident occurred while Tallanao and Masothing were fulfilling their duties as part of the NSF Reconnaissance Mission to Ukhrul and Chandel, assessing the implications of the abrogation of the Free Movement Regime.

“Their commitment and dedication to the cause of the Naga people in this perilous endeavour are a testament to their courage and deep sense of responsibility,” it stated.

Mourning the irreplaceable loss, the NSF said that their deaths have left a void that words cannot fill, but stated that their legacy will continue to inspire Naga youth and the broader Naga community in the collective pursuit of justice, peace, and sovereignty.
The Federation also extended its condolences to the bereaved families, the Tangkhul community, and all those impacted by the tragic incident.

“As we grieve, we stand united in our resolve to carry forward the cause for which Tallanao and Masothing gave their all, keeping their memories alive in our hearts and actions,” the NSF added.

“The devastating loss of these two remarkable leaders has deeply affected the Naga community,” the DNSU stated, noting that Tallanao and Masothing were not only leaders but also beacons of hope and dedication for the Naga people.

Their contributions, vision, and steadfast leadership in the pursuit of justice and peace have left a lasting impact that will continue to inspire generations, especially the Naga youth, it said.

In solidarity with their bereaved families, the Tangkhul community, and everyone grieving this irreparable loss, the DNSU extended its sympathies and prayers, asking that the Almighty provide strength, solace, and comfort during these difficult times.

The Union further reaffirmed its commitment to carry forward their legacy, ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain.
In honour of these two leaders, the DNSU office will remain closed on October 25, it added.
