India-China border
New Delhi: The India-China border has not been demarcated which will always lead to problems in the areas further along, said BJP MLA from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Monday.
“The border is not demarcated. As a result, some problems have surfaced in the past and some are emerging now. Until there is demarcation, some problems will surface,” the Ladakh MP told reporters here.
He made these remarks while replying to a question on reports of China’s PLA preventing Indian villagers from taking their cattle for grazing in the forward areas of Ladakh.
Namgyal, who was addressing a press conference along with Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad, said the Modi government has launched the Vibrant Village Program under which development works have been undertaken in sectors such as roads, telecommunications and water.
Asked about increasing India-China bilateral trade in favor of Beijing, Union Minister Karad said that several steps have been taken to produce more ‘Made in India’ products so that exports of Indian goods can increase significantly.
Giving examples, the minister said that production of goods such as mobile phones, toys, and (medical) ventilators has increased.
“In mobile phone production, we are the new center of the world. We are now also producing more toys,” he said.
Karad said the government has also imposed additional import duty on umbrellas, which India used to import in large quantities, and taxed cryptocurrency.
Referring to the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, Karad said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has become safer and India is also contributing to world peace.
He said that at the recently held 90th Interpol General Assembly in Delhi, all the guests had pledged to ‘trace, target or eliminate’ action against terrorism and India was actively following this policy.
