KYKL freedom fighter held in Imphal west by security forces

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur on November 14 arrested an active member of the banned group Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup (KYKL) in Imphal-West district.
The arrest resulted in the recovery of one 9 mm pistol, two magazines loaded with 16 live rounds, one car, Rs. 92,000 in cash, and four mobile phones.
The arrested person was involved in extorting huge sums of money from common people.
During the last 24 hours, the state witnessed a tense situation with sporadic incidents of firing and gatherings of protesters. Security forces conducted search operations in sensitive areas of Imphal West, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts to maintain control.
In a separate incident, Manipur police arrested a man in Senapati district for carrying 35 cases of soap containing 421.6 grams of brown sugar to Tata Yodha. A case has been registered, further investigation is on.
To ensure smooth flow of essential commodities, 349 vehicles along NH-37 and 814 vehicles along NH-2 were secured under tight security measures.
Security convoys were deployed at sensitive locations to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
A total of 133 checkpoints were set up in Manipur, resulting in the detention of 794 persons for various violations.
