Manipur: Suspected Kuki militants abducted civilians in Bishnupur and adjoining villages of Torbung Bangla in Churachandpur district.
The law and order situation is improving in most parts of Imphal city, but untoward incidents are still happening in some parts of the state.
On May 11, three civilians were abducted from Torbung Bangla, an adjoining village in Bishnupur and Churachandpur district, by unidentified gunmen suspected to be Kuki militants. Apart from this, one person was attacked.
The arrested person is identified as Naorem Prakash (33), from Tera Khongsangbi under Bishnupur district. Thansom Shyam (34) under Bishnupur district and Leichombam Suraj (23) from Bishnupur district.
The man who was attacked has been identified as Wangkhem Mohen from Phubala Makha Leikai.
Wangkhem Mohen told the media that he was accompanied by a group of people, including a woman, who visited his residence, Torbung Bungalow, after the violence.
It may be mentioned here that all of them are residents of Torbung Bangla and in the current communal tension, their houses were completely burnt down and they are currently sheltering in a relief camp.
However, given the improved law and order situation, they went to Torbung Bangla in an attempt to retrieve their valuables.
He continued by saying that he saw suspected Kuki militants approaching his house with sophisticated weapons. Seeing them, they escape to the BSF camp to save their lives.
But Thorngam Shyam and Leichombam Suraj remained hidden inside the barn. Later along with the security personnel, he (Mohan) returned to search for Thorngam Shyam and Leichombam Suraj and on the way he met some suspected Kuki militants.
Meanwhile, when the BSF personnel were trying to talk to the suspected Kuki militants, Mohan was allegedly attacked by unidentified gunmen.
On the other hand, 17-year-old Norm Kaiku from Torbung Bangla also said that he too had gone to retrieve his belongings and on his way back, he testified that his cousin Naorem Prakash was allegedly caught by suspected Kuki militants.
