Killing of two village volunteers condemn by Sekmaijin people

Imphal: Against the killing of Sagolsem Nganleiba Meitei and Irengbam Chingkheinganba Meitei of Sekmaijin Khunou by Kuki militants, the JAC along with the people of Sekmaijan, Kakching District staged a sit-in at Sekmaijan Bridge condemning the brutal killing of volunteers from two villages.
The two volunteers had gone to Leikinthabi village under the jurisdiction of Sekmai Police Station on July 4 to assist village volunteers in the area from an attack by suspected Kuki militants.
Among the dead volunteers are 26-year-old rengbam Chingkheinganba, son of Irengbam Dhana, and 33-year-old Sagolshem Nganleiba, son of Sagolshem Ibochou, both from Sekmaijin Khunou. Nganleiba is survived by his wife, four-year-old and seven-year-old son.
JAC member Kiran said that the duo had gone to Leikinthabi around 2 pm on July 4 but lost all contact with them after 4 pm after which their families started searching for them.
The following day around 9pm, a viral video on Facebook showed them being brutally attacked and shot dead.
Kiran strongly condemned the incident and demanded the government to help the bereaved family members to recover the lifeless bodies within three days.
He questioned the government on the current unrest in the state and asked whether the government is waiting for one person from each family to be sacrificed. He strongly demanded the central and state government to restore peace in the state at any cost.
Participating in the demonstration, Pakpi, the mother of the deceased Chingkheinganba and the wife of the deceased Nganleiba, Sivia, strongly condemned the incident and demanded the government to hand over their lifeless bodies to their families.
